MCT Federal Credit Union
Annual Report (Community Involvement Section)
At MCT, we are continually guided by the credit union philosophy of people helping people. Our commitment to service extends not only to our members, but to the local communities in which we operate. Because MCT has its roots in education, many of our charitable activities involve partnerships with local schools.
One of the ways MCT demonstrates its dedication to financial literacy and education is through its In-School Branch Program. In 2006, we opened two new branches, bringing the total to nine. These branches, which are located in high schools, an elementary school, and two special needs schools, are run by students under the guidance of teacher liaisons. Student employees open accounts, accept deposits, disburse cash, and are responsible for balancing the branches.
Throughout the year, MCT staff gave more than 50 financial presentations to elementary, middle, and high school students on a variety of topics, including budgeting, savings, checking accounts, and the wise use of credit.
For teachers, we offered a series of financial seminars on retirement planning, saving for college, investment planning, and more. We also sponsored the New Teacher/Para-Educator Orientation, supplying book bags, lunchboxes, and pens, along with products such as a guaranteed new teacher relocation loan, a pre-approved Visa card, and a special accumulator certificate.
